This project will impact patron experience, accessibility, and comfort – and it will also impact our local economy. Combined, spending by The Z, NBFT and NBSO, coupled with visitor spending, supported 338 jobs and $10.2 million in economic output. 70,000 people enjoy performances at the Zeiterion each year. That kind of contribution will only be amplified with the new capabilities this project will bring to us and our resident organizations.
This multi-million-dollar project will create hundreds of construction jobs with over 43 million in economic impact. Once the project is complete, we anticipate 14 new hires to support our expanded operations, with an additional $1.6 million in economic output.

This project also underscores The Z’s commitment to strengthening education programs. 10,000 local students experience the performing arts through our education programs each year. A total of 1,800 square feet has been dedicated to serving these students and more.
Economics aside, this project supports creative expression in our community, particularly in New Bedford. The increased capacity means we’ll now have the space to offer to community members to perform, teach, or host their events.
